People on the Move

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed John Bryant as its vice president of advocacy, codes, and standards. In this role, Mr. Bryant will head the organization's federal and state advocacy efforts, and oversee BOMA initiatives as it represents the interests of commercial real estate in the development of model building codes. He will be BOMA's chief advocate, working with lawmakers and federal agencies on numerous issues related to the industry.

Prior to joining BOMA, Mr. Bryant was with NAIOP, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association. He was senior director of federal affairs, lobbying for environmental and land-use initiatives and for several tax extenders that benefit the commercial real estate industry. Mr. Bryant also advocated for the development of building code energy efficiency legislation, and is known as an expert on legislative and regulatory issues affecting commercial real estate.

The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that Dawn De Grazio is its technical editor. In this newly created role, Ms. De Grazio assists technical committees and IES staff with editing IES standards, documents, and articles.

Previously, Ms. De Grazio was the director of customer education for Lighting Analysts in Littleton, Colorado. Before being appointed IES technical editor, she was also elected by IES members to serve as an at-large director on the IES board of directors. Ms. De Grazio has been on several IES technical committees as well, including roadway lighting, outdoor environmental lighting, and visual effects of lamp spectral distribution committee.

"As technical editor, Dawn is going to be a valuable asset on the standards development team by helping the IES improve its standards quality, quantity, and continuity between standards," said Tim Licitra, IES executive vice president. "With Dawn's extensive knowledge and expertise, we are also looking forward to her contributions to not only IES but the lighting community."
