People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The IAPMO Group, an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) member and audited designator, has named Brian Gerber, PE, as technical director for its Uniform Evaluation Services (UES) division. In this new position, Mr. Gerber will oversee UES, which evaluates manufacturer compliance with the Uniform family of codes, including the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and the Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC).

Previously, Mr. Gerber worked as the principal structural engineer for the ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES), a subsidiary of ANSI member and accredited standards developer the International Code Council (ICC), where he oversaw the service’s technical personnel and managed evaluation committee hearings, among other duties. Mr. Gerber received his undergraduate degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Davis, and earned an MBA from California Polytechnic University, Pomona.

The IAPMO Group was formed in 1936 as the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials to protect public health and safety by working with government and industry on the implementation of comprehensive plumbing and mechanical systems around the world.

After more than 30 years of service, Forrest D. (Don) Wright has retired from his position as director of worldwide standards at Lexmark International. Following his retirement, Mr. Wright has become the president of ANSI member Standards Strategies LLC, a Kentucky-based consulting firm he founded that specializes in ICT standardization.

Mr. Wright currently serves as a director-at-large on the ANSI Board of Directors and is a member of the ANSI Intellectual Property Rights Policy Council (IPRPC), the ANSI-International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Council, the ANSI Company Members Forum (CMF), and the ANSI International Policy Committee. He also serves as a member of the IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) Board of Governors and as its treasurer, and is currently the chairman of the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organization Board of Directors. He received a bachelors of science and a masters of electrical engineering from Kentucky’s University of Louisville.
