IEC Announces Organizational Changes in Central Office

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) recently announced a number of organizational changes in its Geneva, Switzerland-based Central Office.

According to Aharon Amit, IEC General Secretary, the changes were put in place on September 1, 2003 in light of the approaching retirement of Jean-Pierre Brotons-Dias, the IEC Technical Director since 1989.

Raymond Cordelier has been appointed to take over the position of Technical Director, reporting to the General Secretary. He will be responsible for planning, directing and evaluating the work of the Technical Department.

Jack Sheldon will be taking on additional responsibilities as Strategic Development Manager, reporting directly to the General Secretary in this area. He will maintain his responsibilities related to TISS, reporting to the Technical Director.

The General Secretary expressed his appreciation to Mr. Brotons-Dias for his significant contributions and efforts to advance the technical work of the IEC. In his new role as Assistant General Secretary, Mr. Brotons-Dias will work on special assignments and will continue to report to the General Secretary until his retirement during 2004.
