Nominations Deadline is Almost Here! ANSI 2023 Leadership and Service Awards Open Through April 14

Nominate before it's too late: ANSI’s call for nominations for all 12 categories of its 2023 Leadership and Service Awards is open until April 14. ANSI will present the awards at a banquet and ceremony on October 11 at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC, during the fall 2023 World Standards Week events. 

ANSI Releases March 2023 Edition of Government Relations and Public Policy Monthly Update

The report is part of the Institute’s ongoing efforts to empower ANSI members with information on the federal and Congressional developments impacting industry and the standardization community. The March issue highlights the following key issues:

Share Your Feedback: ANSI Draft Roadmap of Standards and Codes for Electric Vehicles at Scale Released for Comment

Send your comments by May 1, 2023: ANSI recently released a draft of the Roadmap of Standards and Codes for Electric Vehicles at Scale developed by the Institute’s Electric Vehicles Standards Panel (EVSP). The roadmap identifies key safety, performance, and interoperability issues; notes relevant published and in-development standards; and makes recommendations to address gaps in codes and standards. This includes recommending pre-standardization research and development where needed.

Specialty Metals and Materials: ANSI Seeks Comments on Proposed New ISO Technical Committee

According to the proposal, specialty metals and minerals are defined as commodities and commodity groups related to a broad range of existing and emerging technologies, renewable energy, and national security. As the U.S. member body to the International Organization for Standardization, ANSI seeks comments by April 28, 2023.

ANSI Releases First Quarter Edition of ANSI in China Newsletter

Published by ANSI’s international policy department, the quarterly newsletter updates ANSI members on technical activities, policy decisions, trade matters, and other information of interest. Headlines from the English version of the first quarter 2023 edition include:

    New NIST Artificial Intelligence Center Compiles Federal Guidance on AI

    The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has opened a Trustworthy & Responsible Artificial Intelligence Resource Center (AIRC) to serve as a repository for current federal guidance on AI. The AIRC, formally launched on March 30, offers stakeholders easy access to previously issued materials, facilitating the creation of responsible AI systems by both public and private entities.

    ANSI Welcomes New Members in March 2023

    These 22 new members joined a federation that represents and serves the diverse interests of more than 270,000 companies and well over 30 million professionals.

    People on the Move

    People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trail-blazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community. In this issue:
