ANSI Releases December Edition of Government Relations and Public Policy Monthly Update

The December report is part of the Institute’s ongoing efforts to empower ANSI members with information on the federal and Congressional developments impacting industry and the standardization community. The November issue highlights the following key issues:

  • U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council Issues a Joint AI Roadmap
  • National Defense Authorization Act Signed into Law
  • Omnibus Appropriations Bill Signed into Law

Gaps Progress Report Available: ANSI UASSC Standardization Roadmap for Unmanned Aircraft Systems

The recently released Gaps Progress Report examines efforts over six months by standards developing organizations and others to address the gaps identified in the Standardization Roadmap for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (version 2.0, June 2020), published by the ANSI Unmanned Aircraft Systems Standardization Collaborative (UASSC).

ANSI COVID-19 News: Exercise Reduces Severe Health Outcomes and Tips to Have a Healthier Holiday Season

DOD Defense Standardization Program Video Highlights How Standards Benefit Society and the Agency's Capabilities

A new video issued by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Defense Standardization Program (DSP) features Gregory E. Saunders of the DSP Office (retired), Stephen Welby of IEEE, and Stephanie Possehl of the DOD sharing their views on how specifications and standards benefit our society, and help the DOD deliver advanced capabilities to warfighters.

ISO, IEC, and ITU December 2022 Listings of Work Items Published

In an effort to increase stakeholder engagement and collaboration and reduce duplicative work, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) have coordinated the publication of a monthly document that lists all new work items from the three organizations, including updates on the projects and timelines for the technical committees' work.

ANSI Welcomed New Members in December 2022

  • The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has named Michael Johnson as chief representative for its Beijing representative office.
  • IAPMO R&T Lab, a third-party listing agency specializing in plumbing and mechanical products, has hired Jaime Young as its quality filter lab director as part of its acquisition of New Jersey-based Quality Filter Testing Laboratory.
