Did You Know? offers a quick look at the broad scope of activities underway within the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Federation of members and partners, highlighting recent accomplishments and new resources related to standardization.

ECIA Podcasts Discuss Electronic Components Industry, COVID Impact, Data Security, and More
The Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, offers all interested stakeholders free access to on-demand podcasts covering a variety of topics related to the electronics components industry.

The most recent podcast has ECIA chief analyst Dale Ford interviewing Tom Runiewicz of IHS Market on how soon the global economy may recover from the COVID-19 crisis. Listeners will hear what data Runiewicz uses for his analysis, and how he tracks it to understand the impact of the global pandemic.

Visit ECIA's website to access the podcasts.

New Report Details PDF Technology Use in Manufacturing
The PDF Association and the 3D PDF Consortium, both ANSI members, have released a new document that provides a high-level introduction to PDF technology's role and capabilities for manufacturing industries.

"PDF in Manufacturing" details how PDF is vital in manufacturing and engineering communications for conveying ideas, plans, contracts, specifications, and 2D and 3D drawings. Readers will learn about the history of documents as applied to the design processes, as well as the development of model based definition (MBD) and key applications and industry segments. The report also introduces the wide range of manufacturing-relevant technologies built into the PDF format.

PCI Series Highlights Women in Payments
The PCI Security Standards Council, an ANSI member, hosts a series of interviews with women working in cybersecurity called, "Women in Payments: Closing the Gender Gap in Payment Security." Each interview profiles a different woman in the industry, outlining her career and asking for her guidance on how to develop a career path in cybersecurity.

The most recent profile features Diane Rogerson of JP Morgan Chase. For women interested in a career in cybersecurity, Ms. Rogerson says, "they need to push themselves into the opportunities in this realm and really understand that they have transferrable skillsets from a technology perspective that will make them successful in learning the new topic of cybersecurity. It's really an application of what they already know and have the baseline."

Read or watch Ms. Rogerson's full interview, as well as profiles with five other women in payments, on PCI's website.

PMI Releases New Report on Diversity in Project Teams
The Project Management Institute (PMI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has published a new report on project outcomes associated with diversity in teams, including diversity of gender, age, race, experience, sexual orientation, thought, nationality, and culture.

"A Case for Diversity: The ROI of Inclusion on Project Teams" examines the gaps between organizations' stated interest in diversity and the reality of their teams, as well as the project outcomes of companies that do commit to and invest in diversity and inclusion. Among other findings, the report reveals that culturally diverse leadership is associated with higher organizational performance, and that organizations that offer or sponsor gender-based programming are more often associated with higher performance as well.

See PMI's website to learn more and download the full report.

Learn more and access the full report at no cost from the PDF Association or the 3D PDF Consortium.
