U.S. TAG for ISO/TC 285,
clean cookstoves &
clean cooking solutions

Objectives & Scope

The primary goal of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 285, Clean cookstoves and clean cooking solutions, is to focus on clean cooking solutions for people who have traditionally relied on solid fuels to cook their food and heat their homes. This broad application enables the committee to work on standards needed across a range of cookstoves and fuel types.

The U.S. TAG represents national interests on clean cookstoves standards at ISO. ANSI administers the U.S. TAG to ISO/TC 285 to coordinate national standards activities for existing and emerging sectors. The U.S. TAG is guided by the ANSI cardinal principles of consensus, due process, and openness.

The scope of ISO/TC 285, and consequently the U.S. TAG, is: Standardization in the field of cookstoves and clean cooking solutions.

Structure

The U.S. TAG "mirrors" the structure of ISO/TC 285 in that the U.S. TAG develops consensus positions on all technical matters of each of the international Working Groups (WGs) and Task Groups (TGs).
