Each year, ANSI calls for nominations from its membership for upcoming positions on ANSI's Board of Directors, Policy Advisory Groups, and Committee on Education. The Institute strives to ensure balance and diversity across its membership, governance, and advisory groups, and seeks qualified candidates from diverse sectors and stakeholder groups to actively participate.

The call for nominations period is announced in ANSI What's New? and to members via email during a specified period each year. Details on the nomination process for each position are provided below when the nomination period is open.
ANSI MEMBERS: NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN THROUGH JULY 15

BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS OVERVIEW

ANSI invites all members to recommend qualified candidates for the ANSI Board of Directors for three-year terms beginning January 1, 2022, and concluding December 31, 2024. For the first time this year, the nominations process can be completed online by filling out and submitting the Nomination Information & Reply Form for the 2022 ANSI Board of Directors found in ANSI's secure Member Document Library through July 15, 2021.

ROLE OF THE ANSI BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board is responsible for the management and control of the activities, property, and affairs of ANSI, including the strategic direction of the Institute, the annual budget, and the scope of responsibilities of the Board Committees, the Committees of ANSI, the Membership Forums, and the Policy Advisory Groups. Candidates should be able to attend meetings, participate actively, and make an effective contribution to the work of the Board.

ONLINE NOMINATION GUIDELINES

Please review and fill out the Nomination Information & Reply Form for the 2022 ANSI Board of Directors through July 15, 2021.

For additional guidance on applying to the Board, please also review, in the Member Document Library, this letter issued by ANSI’s President and CEO, Joe Bhatia, which provides an overview of the nomination process and emphasizes the importance of your participation, the Guidelines for the Selection of Candidates, and the ANSI Code of Conduct.

Nominations require a biographical statement and a letter of corporate support (note: a letter of corporate support is not required for corporate officers or for individual and government members). The ANSI Nominating Committee will review candidates, and nominations by that Committee will subsequently be balloted for election by the ANSI membership.

Please note: Only one nomination per ANSI Member is accepted.

POLICY ADVISORY GROUPS & COMMITTEE ON EDUCATION NOMINATIONS

ANSI invites all members to recommend qualified candidates for membership on the three ANSI Policy Advisory Groups (PAGs) – the National Policy Advisory Group (NPAG), the International Policy Advisory Group (IPAG), and the Intellectual Property Rights Policy Advisory Group (IPRPAG) – and the Committee on Education (CoE). For the first time this year, the nominations process can be completed online by filling out and submitting the Nomination Information & Reply Form for the 2022 ANSI Policy Advisory Groups and the Committee on Education found in ANSI's secure Member Document Library through July 15, 2021.

ROLE OF THE PAGS & COE

The PAGs identify trends and issues within the expertise of each group, and, where appropriate, provide recommendations to the Executive Committee on relevant actions. PAGs are advisory in nature and their members are not fiduciaries to ANSI, but they are important in developing policy positions in each of their respective focus areas. The CoE is responsible for all Institute initiatives related to standards and conformity assessment education and outreach, as well as fulfilling the objectives of the United States Standards Strategy.

ONLINE NOMINATION GUIDELINES

Please review and fill out the Nomination Information & Reply Form for the 2022 ANSI Policy Advisory Groups and the Committee on Education through July 15, 2021. For additional guidance on applying to the PAGs and the CoE, please also review the ANSI Code of Conduct in the Member Document Library.

Nominations to voting member positions require a biographical statement and a letter of corporate support (note: a letter of corporate support is not required for corporate officers or for individual and government members). Voting members are appointed by the Chair of the Board and approved by the Executive Committee from among nominated, eligible candidates.

Please note: Only one nomination per ANSI Member is accepted.
