Background: China and Emergency Management Standards

In recent years, China has implemented a series of environmental, health, and safety standards as it works to enhance and integrate its national emergency management system. This workshop will focus on the standardization and regulation of basic and advanced safety and emergency response technologies and equipment that will be applicable to operations management, maintenance, and logistics.

During the virtual session, participants will be able to interface with Chinese regulators, standards developers, and other stakeholders to discuss the regulatory environment and share technical solutions around key vertical fields in emergency management. In addition to U.S.-based standards developing organizations (SDOs) with knowledge about quality standardization in this field, U.S. companies looking to export emergency management services and products are also encouraged to attend.

The co-organizer for the workshop is the China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS). In the field of emergency management, CNIS has recently begun researching and developing major standards on behalf of the Standardization Administration of China (SAC).
