People on the Move

5/01/2020

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named Peter Tolsdorf as its general counsel and corporate secretary. In this role, he oversees NEMA's legal compliance program, litigation, and internal NEMA policies and procedures.

Mr. Tolsdorf comes to NEMA from the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), where he was a vice president for NAM's litigation program, in which he represented manufacturers' interests in the courts. He also served as the general counsel of the Manufacturing Institute, NAM's public charity affiliate that focuses on workforce development. Previously, he was senior counsel at the American Petroleum Institute, and an attorney at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

"Peter's legal career and accomplishments in cognate industries bring a wealth of knowledge to our senior leadership team," said NEMA president and CEO Kevin J. Cosgriff. "We look forward to Peter leading the strategic counsel for our legal and corporate governance practices."

Kaiser Permanente, an ANSI member, has announced that Christian Meisner is its new senior vice president and chief human resources officer. He will oversee all aspects of the organization's human resource strategy and operations, reporting to the chairman and CEO, and serving as a member of the National Executive Team.

Mr. Meisner has nearly 30 years of experience in labor relations across many industries and geographies. Previously, he was corporate vice president of talent and integration at United Technologies Corporation, where he also served as vice president of human resources for Sikorsky Aircraft. He has also served as chief human resources officer for Otis Elevator Company. There, he led HR operations for their 68,000 employees across 77 countries, modernized their HR operating model, created culture-shaping initiatives, and improved talent and succession planning processes.
