NIST AI Virtual Workshop Open for Registration
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is hosting a virtual workshop on AI on August 18 from 9:00 AM - 5:00 p.m. Eastern. The focus of this event is to collectively facilitate the development of a shared understanding of bias in Artificial Intelligence (AI), what it is, and how to measure it.
The online event will consist of collaborative panels and breakout sessions and will bring together experts from the public and private sectors. The goal of the workshop is to arrive at a common understanding of what bias in AI entails—as well as how it should be defined. The stakeholder conversations are expected to lay important groundwork for future efforts in NIST's AI work, including the development of standards and recommendations for achieving trustworthy AI.

SES to Hold Free Virtual Annual Conference in August
The Society for Standards Professionals (SES), an ANSI member, has announced that it will hold its 69th Annual Conference in a virtual format. Attendance is free for all stakeholders.

Popular DMSC Webinar Series on QIF Available On-Demand
The Digital Metrology Standards Consortium (DMSC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, recently hosted a 3-part QIF webinar series that was well-attended and highly reviewed.
Webinars in the series include QIF 101, Understanding QIF Basics; QIF 201, Outlining the QIF Schemas; and QIF 301, A Beginners Guide to QIF 3.0 Implementation. Over 100 participants attended each session, with 220 present for the final webinar. The sessions also boasted a high percentage of registration vs attendance, with 70% of registrants attending (the industry average is about 46%), and engagement was high.

HI Offers Resource Collection to Support Utilities' Development of Pump-Focused Incentive Programs
The Hydraulic Institute (HI), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has launched a new collection of tools and educational materials that helps utilities build pump-focused incentive programs.
The "Utility Resources" collection is designed to drive utilities' development and implementation of these programs, advancing pump system energy savings and helping utilities meet regulatory goals while providing additional benefits to customers. Tools include an FAQ and lessons learned on past programs; a database that identifies exiting programs; an Excel workbook for pump energy savings calculations, measure identifiers, and necessary technical data; and promotional materials to boost education and awareness of programs; among many others.

DRI International Releases Guide for Hiring Business Continuity Professionals
DRI International, an ANSI member, offers all interested stakeholders a free hiring guide on business continuity professionals, recently updated with international salary information.
"Hiring a Business Continuity Professional" provides human resources professionals and learning and development managers with information to help them better understand the role of these employees, allowing them to secure the right talent. Business continuity professionals support an organization through risks and vulnerabilities, contributing to risk assessments, business impact analyses, strategy selection, and documentation of business continuity and disaster recovery procedures, among other roles.

Three-Part Webinar Series Highlights Biology/DNA Standards and Best Practices from OSAC and ASB
ASB, OSAC and Promega Corporation will host a three-part webinar series aimed at providing information on new and emerging standards and best practices in forensic biology and DNA testing. The series will start on July 15, 2020, with "Development and Publication of New Standards and Best Practices - The Process" (Part 1), followed by "Mixture Interpretation Validation and Protocol Development and Verification" (Part 2) on August 5 and will close with "Training Standards Overview" (Part 3) on September 9.
