People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

ASTMInternational, a member and audited designator of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced several new hires.

Craig Updyke has joined the organization as director of global policy and international trade, based in the Washington, DC office. Mr. Updyke has more than two decades of experience in international policy and trade matters, most recently working for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) as the head of its international trade advocacy and market development activities. Prior to his work with NEMA, Mr. Updyke was an associate editor for a weekly newsletter on international trade and policy based in Washington, DC.

Maria Jiverage has been appointed manager of global cooperation and training in ASTM's headquarters, located in West Conshohocken, PA. Previously, Ms. Jiverage was CEO and director at the International Language and Consulting Services, Inc. She has also held positions with several international organizations around the world, including the Integrated Rural Development Program in South Africa and the Peacebuilding Support Service at the United Nations in New York.

Michael Kottman has joined ASTM as its additive manufacturing R&D project engineer. Mr. Kottman has eight years of experience with additive manufacturing R&D, with a focus on metal directed energy deposition and modeling the relationship between process parameters and part performance. Prior to joining ASTM, Mr. Kottman was an R&D engineer at Lincoln Electric, where he developed materials and process solutions for welding and additive manufacturing.

Martin White has been named ASTM's head of additive manufacturing programs - Europe region. He brings with him 20 years of experience in academia and industry, most recently with a focus on the certification and production of aerospace structures. Previously, Mr. White worked across multiple industries including aerospace, civil nuclear, defense, and oil and gas, holding positions with GKN Aerospace, Safran Landing Systems, and Frazer-Nash Consultancy.
