With 1.4 billion consumers, China is an expansive and steadily growing-market opportunity. For many, this prompts some significant questions: How does China's influence in standardization impact U.S. businesses? Can China surpass the U.S. in the global standards-setting process? And what could that mean for U.S. technological leadership? Join S. Joe Bhatia, president and CEO of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), in conversation with John J. Hamre, President and CEO of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) and Langone Chair in American Leadership, during a live webcast on Thursday, May 28, 2020, from 10:00 -10:45 a.m. ET.

The session, Is China Gaining on America as the Leading Standards-Setter for New Technologies and Products?, will touch on China's growing role in regional and international standardization, issues related to 5G, and potential implications for U.S. companies.

Hosted by the Langone Chair at CSIS, the webcast is the second in a series of virtual conferences to include Mr. Bhatia. A previous video session recorded on May 13 highlighted Understanding the Crucial Role of Standards for American Prosperity.
