NIST Announces Funding for Standards Curricula Development

4/20/2020

Applications due by June 15, 2020

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages stakeholders to apply to the National Institute of Standards and Technology's (NIST) FY2020 Standards Services Curricula Development Cooperative Agreement Program. The program awards funding to eligible applicants to develop undergraduate- and/or graduate-level curricula to incorporate documentary standards, standards development, and standardization information and content into seminars, modules, courses, and learning resources at U.S. colleges and universities. Applicants may propose a start date anytime between September 15, 2020 and March 1, 2021.

Accredited institutions of higher education in the U.S. and its territories are eligible to apply. Applicants may work individually or include proposed sub-awards or contracts with others, such as non-profits or commercial organizations. Applicants are evaluated through a competitive process on their ability to meet criteria in four major categories: technical project approach and methodology; communication plan; staffing; and resource availability.

Since the program's inception in 2012, 33 awards have been made. Awardees have developed curricula that cover a wide range of topics, including various science and engineering disciplines, as well as business, public policy, law, and other related and multi-disciplinary approaches. In fiscal year 2020, NIST anticipates funding up to eight awards in the range of $25,000 to $75,000, with a project performance period of up to two years.

Applications must be submitted through grants.gov no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday, June 15, 2020.
