3/19/2021

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

MHI, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has named John Paxton as its new CEO. He succeeded George W. Prest following his retirement.

Mr. Paxton has over 30 years of experience, serving most recently as MHI COO/CEO designate since August 2018. He also has more than two decades of executive leadership experience at Demag Cranes and Components. Mr. Paxton has been recognized for his volunteer leadership, including serving as president of the Crane Manufacturers Association (CMAA), president of the Hoist Manufacturers Institute (HMI), and chairman of MHI’s Board of Directors.

“John’s leadership skills and experience are the perfect match for MHI to continue fulfillment of its mission to deliver member value every day and support the vision to be the authoritative resource for the material handling industry. I am confident that John and the team will take the vision and mission of MHI to the next level,” said Mr. Prest.

The American Chemistry Council (ACC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced that Kimberly Wise White, Ph.D., is its new vice president, regulatory and technical affairs. Dr. White assumed the position following the retirement of previous vice president Michael Walls.

Dr. White has almost 20 years of experience in scientific, product stewardship, environmental management, and sustainable chemistry. She has been with ACC for 10 years, serving as a senior director in ACC’s Chemical Products and Technology Division where she led the scientific research, regulatory advocacy, and communications initiatives around specific chemistries and product sectors. Previously, Dr. White has held scientific advisory and environmental management positions guiding toxicology research, environmental compliance, process safety, and risk management programs.

“Kimberly brings deep chemicals management expertise to highly complex public health and environmental public policy issues,” said ACC president and CEO Chris Jahn. “From chemistry’s unique role in defeating COVID-19, to combating climate change, to improving sustainability and protecting the health and safety of people worldwide, Kimberly’s track record as a consensus-builder and solutions-seeker brings our industry the right leadership and collaborative approach to help us achieve a stronger, healthier, safer, and more sustainable future.”
