As the U.S. member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and via its U.S. National Committee, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) seeks feedback on five ISO/IEC Guides. Respond to ANSI by July 16, 2021.

ISO has issued systematic review ballots that are due on September 2, 2021, for the following documents:

  • ISO/IEC Guide 2:2004 (Ed 8, version 2) – Standardization and related activities — General vocabulary
  • ISO/IEC Guide 75:2006 (version 2) – Strategic principles for future IEC and ISO standardization in industrial automation
  • ISO/IEC Guide 77-1:2008 (version 2) – Guide for specification of product properties and classes — Part 1: Fundamental benefits
  • ISO/IEC Guide 77-2:2008 (version 2) – Guide for specification of product properties and classes — Part 2: Technical principles and guidance
  • ISO/IEC Guide 77-3:2008 (version 2) – Guide for specification of product properties and classes — Part 3: Experience gained

Stakeholders who would like to review any of these documents and submit comments on whether they should be confirmed, revised, or withdrawn, can contact Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director of international policy and strategy, at [email protected]. Comments are due by close of business on Friday, July 16, 2021.

All input received by the deadline will be considered in the production of proposed ANSI positions and comments that will then be presented for approval by the ANSI ISO Committee (AIC) for submittal to ISO.
