ANSI Renames Workforce Award to Honor Stephen Crawford; Nominations Accepted through June 24

On June 1, 2022, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Board of Directors officers approved renaming the Workforce Innovation and Development Award to honor Stephen Crawford, Ph.D., a Workcred board member and fervent advocate of workforce development who passed away unexpectedly on May 12, 2022.

Dr. Crawford was a founding board member of Workcred and was instrumental in bringing visibility to the organization throughout the workforce community. His commitment to workforce development and improving the credentialing system was pivotal in helping Workcred achieve its national reputation for being a leader for quality. The newly renamed Stephen Crawford Workforce Development and Innovation Award recognizes the dedicated spirit of Steve in individuals or accredited credentialing bodies that significantly impact workforce development in the United States.

The recipient organization or individual will be chosen based on the following criteria:                                               

• Providing a credentialing solution to prepare workers/learners for skilled and professional jobs
• Fostering partnerships and collaborations with government, industry, and employers to develop the skilled workforce they need for business growth and competitiveness
• Developing innovative practices to improve the quality of the credentialing program
• Fostering innovation that builds economic value and addresses the skills gap in the United States
