With National Engineers Week underway from February 19-25, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is proud to support the work of engineers through educational webinars, mentorship opportunities, and other resources for students and professionals in STEM.
Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) in 1951, National Engineers Week—or “EWeek”—celebrates how engineers make a difference in the world, and supports a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers.
The 2023 theme, “Creating the Future!” helps recognize how engineers play a vital role in innovating solutions to global challenges that impact future generations. In working together to develop new technologies, products, and opportunities, engineers help create new possibilities that make the world a better place.
ANSI Resources Support Engineers All Year!
ANSI offers multiple resources that support engineers of all ages and stages in their careers on its education outreach webpage, including university student and faculty resources, and K-12 student and teacher resources.
To support professionals who are new to the scene of electrotechnology standardization, the U.S. National Committee (USNC) to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)—a committee of ANSI—encourages young and emerging professionals to participate in the work of the USNC and IEC and become engaged in offerings that include programs, trainings, and events.
To create valuable career partnerships, the USNC Professional Mentoring Program provides emerging standards and conformity assessment professionals an opportunity to enter into a one-on-one working relationship with a more experienced member of the USNC community for the purpose of retention, development, and overall success.
ANSI also offers opportunities for aspiring engineers to put their thinking on paper with its annual ANSI Student Paper Competition. Engineers and other professionals are invited to check out an array of training courses on various aspects of the standardization system on its ANSI's training courses and webinars page.
This year, ANSI also recognizes its member organizations that help support EWeek, hosted by DiscoverE.
