Movers and Shakers highlights the career advancements and accomplishments of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has announced the retirement of Glenda MacMullin after 20 years of service. She will retire from her current position as Chief Operating Officer at the end of 2024.

MacMullin was hired as CFO and promoted to COO/CFO in 2012, expanding her responsibilities in finance, HR, legal, IT, membership, and the CTA Foundation. During her two-decade tenure, she led the creation of CTA’s $10 million diversity investment fund and oversaw the purchase of the CTA headquarters building and the Innovation House, including its expansion.

Among her highlights at the organization, MacMullin spearheaded CTA employee incentives for local home ownership and student loan repayment. Additionally, her leadership cultivated in CTA winning multiple awards for being a family-friendly and healthy workplace, including instituting unique health-oriented opportunities for CTA employees. She serves on the executive board for the USO (National Capital District) and as treasurer and member of the Investment Committee for CTA. Additionally, she has served as the chair, secretary, treasurer, and member of the Executive Committee on the National Landing BID for 16 years, which won the national competition to attract Amazon’s HQ2.

“Today is a bittersweet moment for our association as we recognize Glenda for her significant contributions to CTA,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO, CTA. “Glenda has been a trusted, respected, and appreciated part of my leadership team for 20 years. Her steady hand, expertise, and solid counsel to me and the Executive Board has been a guiding force for our organization. I am beyond grateful for the many years we’ve served the technology industry together and look forward to celebrating her many achievements in the year to come.”

I’m excited for the year ahead and look forward to spending more time with my family in 2025.”

 

The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies (PMMI) recently announced the appointment of Carlos Quintero as director of industry services. In his new role, Quintero will work as part of the industry services team to lead and grow PMMI’s OpX Leadership Network along with other industry services initiatives.

With over two decades of experience in the industry, Quintero brings extensive expertise in packaging, processing, capital equipment, and intelligent supply chain technology. As sales director of Americas at SACMI Beverage, Quintero led the sales strategy for the key division of the SACMI Group, specializing in advanced technologies spanning the ceramics, metals, packaging, food, and beverage industries. At SACMI, he managed teams and major global clients, offering valuable insights into team and customer needs, along with market trends. Before that role, he served as global sales director for the Optel Group; sales director of beer, wine, spirits at Sidel; and as a national strategic account manager at FILTEC and HEUFT.

“Carlos brings a wealth of skills to his new role, encompassing expertise in management, innovation, and strategic alliances,” said Jim Pittas, president and CEO, PMMI. “His industry knowledge and unique perspective into the challenges our members face make him a great asset to the PMMI team. We are thrilled to have him.”
