The Air-Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) is hosting a free webinar series on the safe use of low-global warming potential (GWP) flammable refrigerants.
For years, governments around the world have regulated hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants, and a global treaty is now in effect that establishes a global phase down structure for the chemicals. AHRI has researched suitable alternative refrigerants, and found that some have different flammability characteristics than those in use today. The webinars detail research into these flammable or mildly flammable alternative refrigerants that has been conducted by AHRI, AHSRAE, and the U.S. DOE. AHRI encourages manufacturers, channel partners, policy makers, fire service personnel, and building code and environmental experts to attend and learn more about the industry’s research.
Four webinars have been archived and are available to be viewed at no cost. The next webinar, “Refrigerant Ignition in Open Flame/Hot Surfaces: Has Anything Fundamentally Changed?” will be held on Wednesday, October 21 from 11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Eastern. Register at no cost on AHRI’s website.
