CTA Study Reveals Top Skills Tech Companies Seek in Employees, Other Tech Workforce Trends

11/03/2020

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), recently conducted a survey of 240 tech industry leaders to learn more about workforce trends, including desirable skills and recruitment plans, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and adapting to changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The “Future of Work Study” showed that 80 percent of employers surveyed will need more employees with technical skills, notably data analytics (54 percent), software development (56 percent), and project management (56 percent). Furthermore, 86 percent have at least one current or planned diversity and inclusion initiative, and 43 percent will devote staff and resources to hiring more employees from underrepresented backgrounds in the next five years. A majority of respondents (86 percent) said that flexible work arrangements like telework are the most important benefit when retaining employees, and 65 percent plan to hire more employees to work remotely.
