The Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) will host a free webinar next month: “Frequency Control in a 100% Inverter Based Grid.”

Attendees will hear from Deepak Ramasubramanian, a senior engineer scientist at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), on the use of inverter-based resources (IBRs) with the increasing deployment of wind power and solar PV, through an asynchronous connection. IBRs behave differently than traditional synchronous resources, and research has been done on conforming IBRs to the operational norms and limits of traditional resources. The webinar will pose the question: Is it necessary to make IBRs conform to these slower operational paradigms? Or can their fast response characteristics be used advantageously?
