Home Innovation Research Labs Analyze Home Repair and Remodeling Data

2/04/2021

Home Innovation Research Labs recently conducted an analysis of consumer purchasing related to the home amid the pandemic.

The research compared home remodeling and repair projects in 2019 and 2020, and found an increase in the percentage of households undertaking outdoor living projects. Among these projects, there was an uptick in structures (decks, patios, porches, fences), exterior doorways, outdoor accessories (privacy screens, arbors, planter boxes, benches), and fireplaces and stoves, especially on decks and patios. Other increases were seen in the category of home exteriors (siding, roofing, and windows), and home functionality and comfort (storage, appliances, HVAC systems, plumbing, and wall/ceiling coverings).

Learn more, including information on how remodeling behavior changed over the course of 2020 in the Home Innovation Research Labs article.
