The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has released the 2021 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure. This year, the nation’s cumulative grade for its infrastructure was a C-.
The report evaluates 17 categories from aviation to energy to drinking water, and this year’s grades ranged from B (awarded to rail) to D- (given to transit). The report card was previously published in 2017; the cumulative grade in that year was D+. Overall, while modest improvements have been made to infrastructure systems in the past four years, problems still persist. The report offers solutions that can help raise the grade, as well as state-specific infrastructure information.
