NISO Article Breaks Down Issues in Data Ethics

NISO recently published an article that examines the theme of data ethics, an emerging topic in the age of big data where decisions must be made on how data are handled and used to target and track people in an ethical way.

The article explains some of the main concerns in the field of data ethics, including consent, guardians of information, analytics, and data as a force of good vs. the “darker side of data.” The article also provides guidance on the role of the information professional, and how the complex topic of data ethics can be approached.
