The International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH), the non-profit arm of IAPMO, teamed up with the Rwanda Plumbers Organization (RPO) to build bathroom facilities for a school in Rwanda as part of #GivingTuesday—recognized as a “global movement that reimagines a world built upon shared humanity and radical generosity.”
IWSH and RPO launched construction of new toilet and hand-washing facilities for Munazi Primary School in Gisagara District, Southern Province, after visiting numerous potential project sites and determining that this location did not have functional toilets. The school had 14 old pit toilets, with none for staff or disabled students, and no hand-washing facilities near the toilets. The IWSH-RPO work will provide more than 800 children at the school with access to safe water, wastewater, and hygiene facilities including toilets, urinals, hand-washing taps, and ramps.
Held every year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday is a movement that encourages people and organizations to do good deeds and give back to those in need. See IAPMO’s news item to learn more about the IWSH project.
