The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) recently published an article with tips for how occupational safety professionals can implement prevention through design concepts at their facilities, even when staff or resources are limited.

Tips include conducting task-based risk assessments; communicating with engineers and others on preventing risks before they become incidents; referencing the hierarchy of controls to determine options for addressing hazards; considering what is feasible based on resources and budget; and acknowledging that there is no such thing as zero risk.
