ESIG Publishes Article on the Transforming Power Industry

The Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) recently published an article outlining some of the demands, challenges, and next steps in the transition from a centralized, fossil fuel-based power system to one that is more decarbonized, digital, and distributed.

“A Transforming Power System” delves into how distributed energy resources (DERs) are anticipated to grow rapidly – distributed solar is expected to double from 2022 levels by 2030. Integration of DER will present challenges, but these challenges can be managed through industry-wide collaboration to develop standardized solution templates for utilities and regulators to implement against.

Learn more about demand flexibility, the Federal Regulatory Energy Commission’s (FERC) orders, and gaps that need to be addressed in the ESIG article.
