The Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) has released a new document: The 2022 Size & Impact Report. This annual analysis provides data on U.S. plastics manufacturing, industry employment figures, and an expert economic forecast.
The report states that plastics products is the sixth largest industry in the U.S. in 2020, and that plastics manufacturing employment has seen growth since 2011 that outpaced manufacturing as a whole. Ohio has the most plastics industry employment (75,100), while Indiana has the largest percentage of total non-farm employment in plastics. Looking forward, growth in the industry is expected to continue, but at a slower rate, in part due to a tight skilled labor supply.
