The National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) was recently featured in two national TV spots on holiday fire safety awareness.

The clips offer “fire smart” tips for holiday decorating, including making sure that the Christmas tree you choose is fresh, with needles that are green and springy to the touch; cutting one to two inches off of the bottom of the trunk before placing it in the stand; and choosing a stand large enough to hold plenty of water. These tips, along with refiling the stand with water daily, will prevent a dry tree that is more likely to catch fire. The video also guides holiday decorators to choose LED lights, flameless candles, and decorations with the UL mark.
