Megan Hayes of NEMA Speaks on the Value of Consumer Input in Standards for UL Podcast

Megan Hayes, vice president of technical services at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), was recently featured on UL Standards & Engagement’s Word to the W.I.S.E. podcast, speaking on stakeholder diversity in standards development.

In the 18-minute episode, Hayes offers insight on how organizations are working to ensure that diverse voices are heard on technical committees and decision-making bodies. She highlights the critical importance of consumer input in developing standards for product safety, citing her discussions with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on consumer involvement.

Hayes is a member of ANSI’s Executive Standards Council and the USNC Technical Management Committee, former member and chair of the ANSI Board of Standards Review and the USNC Council, and an ANSI Meritorious Service Award and Next Generation Award winner.
