ASTM International’s latest issue of Standardization News features an interview with Casandra Robinson, physical scientist for the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), who reflects on the use of robotics in post-9/11 search and rescue efforts, the value of standards, and the future of law enforcement standards.
In the Q&A, Robinson explains that standards in law enforcement/homeland security applications are critical for officer safety, as officers rely on the protective equipment they are given to prevent injuries and protect their lives. She also highlights some anticipated standards in the near term.
