The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) has released an on-demand webinar, “Clean Energy Workforce Development: From Theory to Practice.”
The presentation offers updates from the National Clean Workforce Alliance, a cross-sector effort to improve clean energy education, training, and job placement outcomes. The Alliance helps ensure that expanding clean energy job opportunities are inclusive of diverse candidates and underserved communities.
The session features insights from Keith Harkins, vice president of academic and workforce programs, Southside Virginia Community College, and David Peterson, executive director, Solar Hands-on Instructional Network of Excellence (SHINE), who discuss the evolution of a public-private partnership in the solar sector.
Ridge Schuyler, dean of community self-sufficiency programs, Piedmont Virginia Community College, presents a platform that connects job seekers to the skills and resources they need to become valued employees, and helps employers find the quality employees they need to thrive in a competitive market. Dr. Darlene Miller, executive director, National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE), shares ways to strengthen the role of community colleges in responding to workforce needs supporting the emerging green economy.
