ISA Podomation Podcast: Global Impact on Student Access to New Technology

4/10/2024

A recent episode of the International Society of Automation’s (ISA) Podomation podcast focuses on how companies and universities are working to fix the tech gap between generations with innovative training.

Paul Cooper, of Michigan State University, Paul Graham, of the University of Sunderland, and James Sheridan, head of Asia Pacific, IglooVision, show how schools and companies use “igloos”–large virtual reality rooms–to train the workforce with new skills, showcase projects, and research. The University of Sunderland, for example, utilize igloos as cybersecurity escape rooms to encourage students to use critical thinking skills and think “outside the box.” Michigan State University professors use igloos to connect with students in Thailand to collaborate on projects and host events.
