The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC) and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) have released a toolkit that offers best practices and strategies for recruiting, hiring, and retaining service members, reservists, and military spouses.

The new downloadable resource can be utilized to develop a company culture that values military-connected talent. The report also offers several recommendations, including:

• involving military-connected employees at companies in the hiring process by identifying roles that could be a good fit for veterans or providing veteran resume reviewing and interviewing assistance;
• using competency-based job announcements and descriptions, recruiting, and selection processes—looking beyond role-specific skills at more generalizable competencies, behavioral qualities, experiences, and attributes; and
• recruit, train, and hire transitioning service members through the SkillBridge program, in partnership with Solar Ready Vets.
