UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE) director of technology and systems David Wroth recently spoke to CBS Mornings about airplane emergencies involving electronic devices, which are on the rise.
While the likelihood of a lithium-ion battery fire is the same on the ground as it is in the air, the danger is much greater during air travel, and many people are unaware of the risks. Wroth provides perspective on the current level of passenger awareness regarding these risks.
Wroth serves on the U.S. Department of Transportation Lithium Battery Aviation Safety Advisory Committee. Previously, he was the director of public safety, responsible for leading key initiatives of the Public Safety Office and integrating these functions with other ULSE organizational programs.
