The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) has published a new editorial piece authored by Pamela Walaski, 2024-25 ASSP president and ASSP Foundation chair, who reflects on the importance of mentoring.

In her thought piece, she emphasizes the benefits of becoming a mentor to share knowledge, refine leadership skills, and create a lasting impact. “As a mentor, you can help others build confidence and develop a sense of belonging,” she noted. On the flip side, “sharing your aspirations with a mentor can help you develop an action plan for your career journey.”

Walaski noted that ASSP has common interest and practice specialty communities with formal mentorship programs that can help match mentors and mentees.
