Member Forums and Other Networking Opportunities

ANSI provides a platform for members to network with their counterparts across industry sectors to share insights on business challenges, priorities, and technological advancements. Through our Membership Forums, events, and programs, ANSI’s vast community of standardization experts comprises a federation of members with the diverse knowledge and power to address emerging standardization needs in every industry.

Standards Coordination and Development Processes: Access and Facilitation

As the only accreditor of American National Standards Developers and approver of American National Standards (ANS), ANSI gets members actively involved in the ANS process. And in support of the public-private partnership at the core of the U.S. system’s strength, ANSI's standards coordination activities provide a neutral forum for all stakeholders to come together and identify consensus-based standardization solutions that meet national needs.

In the global arena, ANSI is the U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), through the U.S. National Committee (USNC), among other international and regional standardization organizations. Through ANSI, U.S. stakeholders have immediate access to the ISO and IEC standards development processes. And the ability to administer a delegated international Secretariat or U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) to an ISO or IEC committee offers members the chance work with a wide array of stakeholders and leaders from industry, government, private companies, educational institutions, consumer groups, and other organizations on creative solutions to emerging issues and obstacles that affect your industry or area of interest.

Government Relations and Outreach

ANSI works with its members to create standardization-related outreach programs to legislators and to increase understanding of the private-sector standards community among agencies involved in trade and commerce issues. Members help shape ANSI’s messaging as the single national voice in coordinated outreach to public policy leaders, U.S and international government agencies, and non-government organizations regarding standardization worldwide.

Active participation in ANSI governance and advisory groups can provide even greater access to the standardization issues and decision-making impacting your business. ANSI strives for a broad diversity of representation from across the ANSI membership in all of its governance and advisory groups, and participation opportunities may include the following:

And ANSI Standardization Collaboratives coordinate the broad standardization intelligence and expertise needed to help move emerging industries forward.

In addition, ANSI's President and CEO reaches out to members with a quarterly message focused on the latest trends and issues for standards and conformity assessment stakeholders, and ANSI's efforts on behalf of the U.S standardization community in priority areas. 

RECOGNITION AS AN ANSI MEMBER

Full Members are entitled to use the ANSI Member Icon within the ANSI guidelines. Association with ANSI – coordinator of the U.S. private-sector standards and conformity assessment system and a globally recognized standardization leader – is good for business.

PROMOTION AND INFORMATION SHARING

ANSI regularly promotes its members' activities that drive progress and solve problems through standardization, whether in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, or via a broad range of accomplishments, tools, and other resources updated weekly (see submission information).
