ATCC, a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced two new appointments to the organization's senior management team. Ralph Koch has been named senior vice president of finance and administration/chief financial officer, and James J. Kramer, Ph.D., has been named vice president of operations. ATCC is a global biological materials resource and standards organization that provides services in support of scientific research for the advancement of scientific knowledge and the improved health of global populations.
Mr. Koch will oversee ATCC's financial programs while working on the diversification of corporate business interests. Prior to joining ATCC, he held a number of leadership and business strategy positions at Aurora Flight Sciences Corporation, Regal Works, Inc., and CardSystems Solutions, Inc. He was the vice president and chief financial officer at Information Management Consultants, Inc., and an audit partner at KPMG. He holds a BS in business administration from George Mason University in Virginia.
Dr. Kramer will direct all aspects of ATCC's manufacturing, inventory/repository, and the distribution of biological products worldwide. An expert in the fields of biomanufacturing, supply chain management, regulated biologics, commercial operations, and quality systems, he most recently served as world wide vice president of operations at Immucor Corporation, and held leadership positions at global bioscience organizations including Bioreliance, Talecris Biotherapeutics, Serologicals Corporation, and Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson Company. Dr. Kramer earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
ANSI member and accredited standards developer the American Welding Society (AWS) has promoted John Gayler to the position of senior associate executive director. AWS is a non-profit membership organization whose mission is to advance the science, technology, and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes worldwide.
Mr. Gayler most recently served as AWS's managing director of certification, supporting the society's global expansion strategy while managing the development, integrity, and technical content of its certification program. In his new role, he will continue to manage the AWS certification department while also serving as part of the senior management team.
Mr. Gayler previously served as the society's director of national standards and as secretary to several technical committees, including the AWS D1 Structural Welding Committee. He holds a BS in materials science and engineering from the University of Florida.
