Date Change: ANSI-HSSP Workshop on CBRNE Standards Rescheduled for September

5/09/2012
The American National Standards Institute Homeland Security Standards Panel (ANSI-HSSP) Workshop on CBRNE Standards, originally scheduled for May 31, 2012, will instead be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. The workshop is intended to provide an overview of the national strategy for chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives (CBRNE) standards and the status of the related work being done in the federal government.

Anyone who has previously registered for the May workshop must re-register at this link if they plan to attend the September workshop. New registrants are also welcome. ANSI apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the date change or re-registration.

Reliable CBRNE countermeasures equipment is essential for the protection of life, health, property, and commerce. With an eye toward this critical aspect of national preparedness, in 2011 the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) collaborated with the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Commerce (DOC) to release the National Strategy for CBRNE Standards, outlining the federal vision and goals for the coordination and implementation of CBRNE equipment standards by 2020.

The workshop will focus on the implementation of the national strategy by private-sector stakeholders, and will include feedback from the implementers. There will be the opportunity for an open discussion on how the strategy impacts private-sector organizations. All ANSI and ANSI-HSSP members, constituents, and other interested stakeholders are welcome to attend.

The event will take place on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Capital Conference Center in Arlington, VA. Attendance is free of charge, but all attendees must register by August 28, 2012, as space is limited.

For more information or to register, visit the event page.

The ANSI-HSSP provides the unique opportunity for the homeland security, emergency preparedness, business continuity communities, and other stakeholders to come together to discuss strategic approaches to current challenges, recent successes, and future outlooks.
