The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that the next monthly ANSI Caucus Luncheon will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010. The meeting will feature guest speaker George Arnold, Ph.D., national coordinator for Smart Grid Interoperability at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

He joined NIST in September 2006 as deputy director of technology services, after a 33-year career in the telecommunications and information technology industry.

He served as the Chairman of ANSI's Board of Directors from 2003 to 2005, and as president of the IEEE Standards Association in 2007-2008. Dr. Arnold is currently vice president of policy for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), where he is responsible for guiding ISO's strategic plan.

Dr. Arnold received a doctor of engineering science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Columbia University in 1978. He is a senior member of the IEEE.
