ANSI to Hold Webinar on U.S. Participation in ISO Activities Related to Cookstoves

6/13/2013
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) will hold a webinar to provide information about the recent decision to establish an International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) focusing on cookstoves and clean cooking solutions. Among the topics of discussion will be the creation of a U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for the new TC. The webinar, which is open to all interested parties and is being offered free of charge, will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, from 1:00-2:30 p.m.

The regular use of traditional cookstoves and open fires to prepare meals has been linked to millions of annual injuries and deaths worldwide, demonstrating the pressing need for effective criteria for clean, safe, and efficient cookstoves. ISO's new TC will provide an opportunity for governments, industry, and organizations around the world to become involved in the process of designing, implementing, and updating standards dealing with this important topic.

During the webinar, ANSI staff will discuss the critical role played by U.S. TAGs to ISO TCs and will present information on the formation, accreditation, and operation of TAGs, in addition to information regarding the proposed TAG to the new ISO TC on cookstoves.

To take part in the webinar, please click here or contact Nina Hwang at the United Nations Foundation's Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves at [email protected] by 5 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013. Individuals who are unable to take part in the webinar, but who would like access to a recording of the session should contact Ms. Hwang to request a copy.
