People on the Move

6/15/2018

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced that Caitlin Hayden is its new vice president of communications. In this role, Ms. Hayden will lead AIA's outreach and communications functions, and work with the organization's members to spread information on the aerospace and defense industry around the U.S. and worldwide.

Ms. Hayden joins AIA from Edelman, where she was executive vice president and director of the media group. There, she worked with a broad range of clients developing communications strategies, including protecting and promoting brands and managing regulatory, policy, and crisis issues. She was also a senior media and speech trainer at Edelman. Previously, she was a special assistant to President Obama, the National Security Council senior director for strategic communications and press, and the National Security Council (NSC) spokesperson.

"I'm thrilled that Caitlin will be joining our team to support an industry that has inspired Americans to dream bigger and reach farther for over a century. Our member companies are inspiring the next generation of American innovators and strengthening our economic and national security. Caitlin's talent and experience make her the ideal person to ensure this story is told effectively and to take AIA's advocacy to the next level," said AIA president and CEO Eric Fanning.

The Advanced Medical Technology Association (AdvaMed), an ANSI member, has appointed Wendy Siminski as senior vice president, conference and events. In this newly created position, Ms. Siminski will lead all events and education efforts for AdvaMed, including The MedTech Conference for the medical technology industry.

Prior to joining AdvaMed, Ms. Siminski was the vice president of marketing and customer experience at the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO). She has over 15 years of experience in event production and organizational growth strategies, and has held positions at the AVUSI Foundation, O'Keefe Communications, National Trade Productions, and the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association.

"This industry is fortunate to have Wendy leading our events efforts and ensuring The MedTech Conference is the premiere medtech convener throughout the country and, indeed, the world," said Scott Whitaker, president and CEO of AdvaMed. "Her extensive background in health care - along with her proficient operations skills - will serve us well as we reach another important milestone in AdvaMed's growth as an association."
