Save the Date: Inaugural Nuclear Regulatory Commission Standards Forum on September 8

8/05/2016

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) informs interested stakeholders that the first meeting of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Standards Forum, which aims to identify and respond to the standards needs of the nuclear industry, will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016, at the NRC headquarters in Rockville, Maryland.

The NRC Standards Forum will continue the work of the Nuclear Energy Standards Coordination Collaborative (NESCC), a group that was formed in 2009 as a joint initiative of ANSI and the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). The Forum will also provide a venue for standards development organizations, the NRC, and the public to discuss the need to develop and adopt new and revised standards supporting:

  • The design, construction, deployment, and maintenance of nuclear power plants and other nuclear technologies, including advanced reactor concepts, and

  • Continued operation of in-service nuclear power plants.

The NRC is developing the agenda for the September meeting, and asks any stakeholders who have information to add to the agenda to contact Kurt Cozens at 301-415-6362 or [email protected]. For more information, view the public meeting notice.
