SES to Hold June Webinar on European and International Standards Education
ANSI member and accredited standards developer SES - The Society for Standards Professionals will host a webinar looking at work done in the area of standards education by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), as well as the International Federation of Standards Users (IFAN). The webinar, Standards Education in Europe and Internationally, will be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2014. It will be overseen by Laurent Oberle, president of Acanor, the French association of standards users, and chair of both the CEN-CENELEC-European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) Joint Working Group on Education about Standardisation (JWG-EaS) and IFAN Working Group (WG) 16, Education and training.
Mr. Oberle will provide information about a comprehensive plan developed by JWG-EaS intended to bolster understanding among teachers and students in Europe about the importance of standardization. He will also touch on a new guide published by IFAN outlining functional areas where standardization knowledge is required, among other topics.

IFMA to Hold Inaugural Virtual Career Fair in June
The International Facility Management Association (IFMA), an ANSI organizational member, will host its first-ever Virtual Career Fair as part of an effort to connect organizations with open facility management positions with well-qualified job seekers. The event will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 11, 2014.
Job seekers will be able to participate in the event at no charge, and will be given the opportunity to select different potential employers for one-on-one discussions with their representatives. IFMA will provide job seekers with detailed information about participating employers and the open positions they are seeking to fill. NFPA Releases Revised Fire Safety Program for Preschool Students
ANSI member and audited designator the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recently released an updated version of a preschool curriculum designed to reduce the risk of home fires to small children. The Learn Not to Burn (LNTB) Preschool Program is focused on children ages 3 to 5, but is also applicable to students in kindergarten and first and second grade.
The LNTB Preschool Program draws on research focused on fire and life safety messaging and makes use of music, movement, and specialized activities to educate preschool students and others about important fire safety concepts. The new version includes five lessons that have been bolstered with additional content; these lessons teach children about the important role played by firefighters and provide guidance on holding a practice family fire drill, among other information.

IPC Publishes Free White Paper Outlining Lead-free Research Priorities
ANSI member and accredited standards developer IPC — Association Connecting Electronics Industries' Pb-Free Electronic Risk Management (PERM) Council recently published a document covering priority research areas in connection with the implementation of lead-free materials in the electronics sector. This white paper, PERM Council Pb-free Research Priorities, considers issues related to risk mitigation, tin whisker failure modes, and complex systems logistics, among other topics, in connection with the space systems, submarine and sea systems, missiles and aviation systems, ground-based systems, and avionics fields.
