ANSI Invites Comments on the U.S.- China Conformity Assessment Project with the Department of Commerce and USCBC

3/15/2010
From the board room to Capitol Hill, the trade relationship between the United States and China looms large on agendas across the nation. Over the past ten years, U.S. exports to China have increased more than 300% - benefiting many industry sectors but also presenting new challenges relating to conformity assessment for products and services that are entering the Chinese market.

In an effort to help tackle these concerns, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has teamed with the U.S.-China Business Council (USCBC) in support of a new U.S. Department of Commerce project on conformity assessment issues in China.

The project aims to facilitate a series of roundtable discussions with U.S. and Chinese industry, government, and conformity assessment practitioners to address concerns expressed by U.S. companies.

The kick-off meeting for this project was held March 9, 2010, at the Department of Commerce. In the coming months, the project is slated to cover a variety of activities in both the U.S. and China, including targeted outreach to company representatives in Beijing and Shanghai.

  • Access the kick-off meeting agenda
  • Access project Overview presented in the kick-off meeting
  • Stakeholders are invited to provide their suggestions for specific issues related to conformity assessment in China that may be addressed during this project. Questions or suggestions should be submitted by Friday, March 26 to Elise Owen of ANSI ([email protected]) or Ryan Ong of the USCBC ([email protected]).
