People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.
The IAPMO Group, a member and audited designator of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the retirement of Neil Bogatz, senior vice president and general counsel. Mr. Bogatz has been with IAPMO since 2000.
Mr. Bogatz represented IAPMO on numerous ANSI committees in addition to his legal responsibilities for the organization. As of January 1, Mr. Bogatz became a consultant for IAPMO, and will continue to represent IAPMO as the chair of ANSI's Executive Standards Council and vice chair of its Intellectual Property Rights Committee (IPRPC).
"My relationship with Neil carries back to the early 1980s when he represented my plumbing company," said IAPMO CEO GP Russ Chaney. "When it came time for IAPMO to hire a general counsel, I sought out Neil's advice on how to find and recruit this type of practitioner, only to learn that he might be interested. So I was pleasantly surprised, and after a lengthy interview it became evident to me that Neil was uniquely qualified to assume this responsibility. It was one of the best decisions I made and The IAPMO Group has been better as a result of his service."
Monte Bogatz, who has been with IAPMO since 2010, has assumed the role of senior vice president and general counsel. Heather Koffman has been promoted to vice president and associate general counsel.
The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has appointed Tracy Cullen to lead its communications, marketing, and publishing initiatives.
Ms. Cullen joins NEMA with years of experience as an association executive with a track record of growing revenue, influencing public policy agendas, and promoting favorable publicity through aggressive campaigns. Some of her notable accomplishments include managing the chlorine industry's crisis response to fatal train derailments without incurring new regulatory burdens, and persuading Wal-Mart to reverse its decision to ban a certain packaging material while working with a plastics association.
"Tracy is a highly accomplished and experienced marketing and communications professional," said NEMA president and CEO Kevin Cosgriff. "Her experience in adjacent industries brings an invaluable perspective to NEMA, and we could not be more pleased to have her join the team."
Ms. Cullen holds a bachelor of arts in communication from George Mason University. She is a Certified Association Executive and earned a professional certification in digital media management from Georgetown University.
