Did You Know? offers a quick look at the broad scope of activities underway within the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Federation of members and partners, highlighting recent accomplishments and new resources related to standardization.

ASHRAE and ASPE Sign MOU for Continued Collaboration
ANSI members ASHRAE and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to define parameters on how the two organizations will continue to work together, collaborating more closely to promote the advancements of a more sustainable built environment.

Efforts between the organizations will include general advocacy; research; technical committee coordination; joint conferences and meetings; training and education programs; publication distribution; and chapter collaboration.

NFPA Video Offers Halloween Safety Tips for Children
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), an ANSI member and audited designator, has posted a video with tips to keep celebrations safe this Halloween.

The video emphasizes the importance of preparedness for a safe holiday, including wearing costumes and using decorations that are flame-resistant. The organization also offers tip sheets, kids' activities, and a pumpkin-carving template centered on Halloween celebrations.

The Toy Association Publishes Updated Guide for Toy Inventors and Designers
The Toy Association, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has updated its Toy Inventor & Designer Guide.

The pamphlet offers detailed information on process of creating, making, and selling toys, including:


  • Tips to promote a toy's success

  • How to determine if a new toy idea is unique, marketable, cost-effective, safe, and legally protected

  • How to enter the U.S. toy industry

  • How to sell an invention to a toy manufacturer

  • How to bring a product to market

AHIMA Webinar to Discuss the Health Record Request Wizard
The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), an ANSI member, will hold a free webinar on the use and implantation of the Health Record Request Wizard tool.

Developed in partnership between AHIMA members, X4 Health, and technology developers, the tool provides users requesting information with a highly specific, HIPAA-compliant document delivered to the release of information team at the provider site. Listeners will learn about common issues for patients in the release of information (ROI) process; how to use the Wizard for a better ROI experience; how to implement the Wizard for free; and how the Wizard was developed.
