New guidelines by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) can help human resources better measure the success of a new hire's performance, and that new employee's contribution to the success of an organization. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is the U.S. member body to ISO and is the secretariat of ISO Technical Committee (TC) 260, which developed the technical specification, ISO/TS 30411:2018, Human resource management-Quality of hire metric.

As ISO reports, the quality of hire metric (QoH) is critical for determining the effectiveness of the recruitment process and has a consequential impact on an organization's performance. Therefore, "QoH" is a critical performance metric for talent acquisition teams.

The document, ISO/TS 30411:2018, Human resource managementQuality of hire metric, specifies that the QoH structure is intended to be scalable to the needs of any organization regardless of size, industry or sector and is relevant to people with an interest in workforce planning, organizational design and development, talent management succession planning, recruitment, and human capital reporting.

The U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) administrator to ISO TC 260 is the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). ANSI has delegated Secretariat administration to UTMB.
