Announcing an International Workshop to Develop Technical Guidelines for Small Hydropower Plants

3/27/2019

Register by May 20, 2019

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages its relevant stakeholders to attend a two-day international workshop in China to develop an International Workshop Agreement (IWA), Technical Guidelines, for the development of small hydropower plants (SHP) detailing general terms and definitions and design. This workshop, IWA 33, will be held on June 25 -26, 2019, in Hangzhou, China.

IWA 33 will aim to:

1. Provide a platform to facilitate the standardization of the general terms and definitions for SHP plant development; and

2. Allow for the efficient and effective design guidelines of SHP Plants worldwide based on best practices gathered from a wide variety of countries.

The International Standardization Organization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Committee (IEC) have been leading standardization processes related to various renewable energy technology implementations. This IWA would aid in the process of establishing a Technical Committee (TC) for SHP and mainstream small hydropower plants into the formal international standardization track.

The Standardization Administration of China (SAC), secretariat of this IWA, invites all interested participants to register by May, 20, 2019. The registration form is included in the invitation.
